Beliefs

What we believeWe strive to honor God and be simply New Testament Christians. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and is to be our only guide and authority in religion. The Bible reveals all that is necessary for an individual to become a Christian and serve God faithfully. (II Tim.3:16-17)

We believe Jesus is LORD of all. (Phil.2:10-11)  Adding to or taking away from His commands is a failure to honor Jesus as Lord. (Lk.6:46)   We do not seek to bind traditions of men, rather our desire is to honor Jesus, as Lord, by following Him in all things. (Eph.1:22; Jn.8:31)

We believe the gospel message is to be extended to all. (Mt.28:18-20; Mk.16:15-16)  We ask all to consider our Lord’s gracious invitation. (Mt.11:28-30)  We urge everyone to accept God’s gift of eternal life in His Son (Rom.6:23) by submitting to God’s plan for salvation. The most important question one can ask is,   “Men and brethren, what must I do to be saved”?

Many people would have you believe all you have to do to be saved is, “let Jesus come into your heart”.  The Bible teaches there is more to salvation than just letting Jesus come into our heart. In order for faith to be pleasing to God, faith must lead to obeying God. (Js.2:26; Heb.5:8-9)  Please, read the scriptures listed below; God’s word describes the steps we must follow to become one of His children:

Steps of Salvation

  • Hear the gospel- Romans 10:17
  • Believe the gospel- Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6
  • Repent from sin- Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; Luke 13:3
  • Confess Jesus as the Christ, the son of God- Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10
  • Be Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins- Matthew 28:18; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16

After submitting in obedience to the terms Jesus has set forth in the New Testament, which is His gospel, you have put on Christ, therefore becoming a Christian (Galatians 3:26-27).

What happens after becoming a Christian, if you sin?

  • You must repent of those sins (Acts 8:22)
  • Confess those sins (1 John 1:8)
  • Pray for God’s forgiveness (James 5:16; Acts 8:22)
  • We must all strive to live faithful each day, but we all sin and fall short of His glory. We must ask for forgiveness for those sins. However, we cannot sin willfully expecting to ask for forgiveness. (Heb.10:26)
